What's in Bloom?


Allium 'Gladiator' - Flowering Onion

Meetinghouse entrance sign. This adorable bumble bee has full pollen baskets! These are the part of the legs that collect pollen. 

Geum triflorum - Prairie smoke, native

Community Center Large Containers

Coreopsis lanceolata - lanceleaf tickseed, native

Community Center large containers, various other places 

Abington West Pond

Chionanthus virginicus - Fringe tree, native

Community Center - fading now

Fringe tree up close. This  small native tree is in the Oleaceae family (Olive) 

Zizia aurea - Golden Alexander, native

In the meadow. Also planted at Community Center. Host plant for Black Swallowtails!

Bletilla striata - urn orchid

Greenhouse garden beds - isn't this gorgeous?!

Next to a rose - beautiful colors! Lots of roses in bloom over here too!

Gaillardia  sp. - Blanket flower, native

Lonicera sempervirens - Coral honeysuckle, native

An excellent native vine. The flowers attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Fruit feeds birds. 

 Baptisia australis - Blue false indigo, natvie 

Big ones around the Herb Garden. I love this plant! A true workhorse in the garden. 

Nymphaea spp. - water lily 

Gwynedd pond garden by Rehab. Gorgeous!

Abington West garden. You can see them while walking by the windows - check them out! Andy cares for these aquatic plants. 

Irises are blooming, but check out the new turtle water feature in Gwynedd pond - too cute!

Gwynedd pond. An underused native. 

Oenothera speciosa and Achillea 'Moonshine' - Pinkladies and yarrow, native

Gwynedd pond. A pretty combination that I think we need more of! 

Amsonia tabernaemontana - Bluestar, native

Gwynedd pond. New plants are starting to bloom at community center. Another garden workhorse! 

Chrysogonum 'Superstar' - Green and gold, native

Abington West Pond. Check these out while walking by the windows!  An easy native groundcover. 

The best for last....


Asimina trilobaPawpaw, native 

Across from the meadow heading to the dog park. The flowers are now fading. 

The flowers are a maroon color that attract flies and beetles!
